Due to the fact that I am paid on a project basis, I do not have specified hourly rate. However, for the sake of clarity, I would charge USD23/hr.

I'd like to get a sense of what my client is expecting from me, the more detailed their requirements, the better. It helps to also have consistent feedback from the client to ensure that I'm delivering them the quality that they seek at the end of the day. Work style wise, I am detailed-oriented person who enjoys taking my time tinkering with different words when it comes to translation to ensure I hit the mark or tone that the client is seeking. Therefore, you can count on me to ensure that I'll do very my best to translate each and every single word there is on your document (so long there is an English equivalent of said word of course!)

I posses a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Psychology.

Becoming a freelance translator was definitely that I had in mind. Long story short, I was an ex-HR Executive turned Business Development Executive turned Freelance Translator. It all started when the company I worked for as a BDE eventually announced its bankruptcy and I needed a backup plan. I'm just not someone who'd sit around, mope about the loss of my job and go through another period of uncertainty. So happened I seemed to had discover a couple of job ads seeking freelance translator. I applied, aced the test and was subsequently offered the role of a freelance translator. Fast forward a year, I've since enjoyed my time and flexibility as a freelancer and have decided to stick with it.

My clients are typically Media based companies, given my experience with translating Chinese dramas. I've also dealt with small enterprises seeking to have their Chinese novels translated.

I've worked on a myriad of media projects but if I had to pick one, I'd say it was an anime that I translated back in October *information hidden*The one thing about being a translator is that there is no filtering or limit to what you translate, so long as you get the intended meaning right. When it comes to formal documents, you are limited by the tone or words that you use. In media translation, there is no such thing as restriction. If the speaker is saying the word "Fuck" in their foreign language, you will translate the English equivalent of said profanity. It's quite a lot of fun in that sense because you get this sense that you're role playing as said character in the show itself. As for the time length taken to complete the work, I delivered it on time. Media translations run on a tight deadline, you are given a day max for each project and you have to get it in within the designated time. Thus, I'm proud to say that I've always been timely with my delivery of work.

Personally, translating is a job that everyone can do. It sounds ridiculous but if you're well versed in two languages, there's no stopping you from dabbling in said field. What you need however, is the ability to express yourself using language and familiarize yourself with the language that you're translating to. It also helps that you're comfortable with the freelancer that you engage. A little rapport goes a long way!

Just one question in mind... Do you want to convey the general meaning of what's being translated or are you looking to translate each and every single word in the document. One needs to understand that certain words or meanings get lost amidst the process the translation. If you're looking for someone whose going to translate your documents word for word, you might end up with a rather clunky looking (or sounding in this case) product. But if you want the words of the document to flow rather seamlessly, then you have to do away with the expectation that not every word in the document is getting translated.
